Consider Radio Advertising

As a marketer, you should consider local and regional radio advertising for your business. It works very well and is comparatively inexpensive!

Picture this in your mind… if a restaurant gives out a coupon for free appetizers and advertises it on the radio (pick up the coupon at the restaurant), people will use them – after all, food’s a well liked freebie – and while they are there will in all likelihood go on to order drinks and other food items. The management at the restaurant controls the access to the coupons; the advertising goes out across the county or region through radio ads. The management could even collect names and email addresses or phone numbers for future coupon distribution!

Could you do something similar for your business? You bet!

It doesn’t take much imagination at all to employ this marketing technique using the radio medium if you have physical products. A gift bonus added to a purchase, or a small item for free at your home or store works wonders! It really does bring them in!

If you’re an IMer dealing strictly in digital products, a redeemable coupon for a discount or extra bonus can be collected from your site (all you need to do is have them input a special code in the order form). Use the radio to advertise the coupon. Target various regional areas through your advertising budget and compare the results. Invest in the areas that give the highest number of purchases – you can correlate that information using IP numbers. Highly populated, urban areas give more bang for the buck, but can also be more expensive initially.

In all honesty, I’m forever amazed by the stubbornness of some online marketers in refusing to even investigate using offline marketing avenues to enhance their business. Wedding offline marketing, particularly cheap radio advertising, with online delivery is truly a match made in heaven!
