So Much To Choose From!
You’ve heard me say it before, and I’ll say it again…
Unfocused action is a business killer!
Many home business entrepreneurs get shot down because they can’t stay focused on a project to completion; and there are certainly lots of distractions out there!
As an entrepreneur, particularly an internet marketer, you probably have hundreds of opportunities cross your virtual desktop every week. And therein lies the danger! This one looks sooooo cool! That one looks like a real moneymaker! The next one sure is unique! ALL of them take time – time away from what you WERE working on.
The problem, in a nutshell, is this: if you constantly drop what you’re doing to go after every seemingly “great” opportunity that comes your way, you’ll exhaust yourself and not have enough time to finish anything.
The truth is, most successful marketers choose one or two things at a time and ride them to the end before moving on to the next idea. It’s okay to invest a little of your schedule in maintaining a project if what you’re doing is a recurring activity such as a membership site, but only after you’ve completed it, tested it, opened it and marketed it. Only after all the major work is done!
AND it’s okay to go after a suddenly appearing opportunity if you really think that all the evidence shows that it’s going to sell like hotcakes. Just don’t make a habit of it, and certainly don’t take on more projects than you can successfully chew at any one time.
Rule of thumb is one to two major projects (preferably just one) and only one to two (very) minor projects (including the maintenance mentioned above). Any more than that and you’ll start losing your focus and your edge.
